Psalm 9
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
In today’s passage, we see David mourning over the death of a son. Confused? Why is David giving thanks to God?
This is truly a testament towards not only David’s faith but God’s sovereignty. Stop me if I’ve said this before, “Often at our lowest points, we feel the strongest in our faith.” It feels so counter intuitive. It’s natural to feel like God has forsaken you at times.
“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
David reminds us that to seek God is to find God.
Imagine yourself at a low point in your life. Where was God? Were you seeking his love and guidance?
Sometimes we stray from the path he has set for us. Rather than turning to his wisdom. Perhaps a diet or disciplined workout schedule. We seek food to fill ourselves rather than God’s love. This ultimately is the most popular form the devil takes in our fight for spiritual help. Gluttony.
“But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.”
