Ecclesiastes 11:5-12:1
“Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.”
The author of this passage brings a somewhat morose view of life to his word. He seems to expect death at any moment and calls us to enjoy life while it lasts.
“Why did God create us?” Here is our simple answer right from the text.
“So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity.
Ultimately, we are called to be happy. Simple as that! God created us through an act of incredible love… for us. Rejoice in the years you have been given. As Ecclesiastes reminds us though, we will be judged at the end.
By iron, through iron, to iron. Laudate!
