Luke 10:1-12
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
In Luke’s passage, we see Jesus sending out the 72 to go and spread the good news and perform miracles along the way.
He encourages his disciples to move through life with passion, “Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.” There is a certain fervor that one must contain in order to be so narrow minded, so focused on the task at hand.
Can you think of a moment in your life where Jesus has commanded you to go out with passion?
How did you respond? Did you follow his command?
“Do not take a purse or bag or sandals…”
Often we find ourselves full of passion in one moment but unable to resist the urge to bring worldly items with us (TV, fast food, social media, stress, anger).
Our vanity seeks control yet again.
Discipline in both faith and fitness are good ways to combat this urge.
“Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.”
